20 Major Problems With the World

  • Coronary heart Disease-When Coronary Heart disease happens, plaque builds up in an artery. The plaque can harden or rupture which can lead to less blood being transferred, and even heart attacks. There is a new drug LCZ696 was used to treat heart failure and was very effective. There are also drugs that can reduce the amount of cholesterol in some people.
  • Lung Cancer- It is usually caused by smoking or tobacco smoke. Lung cancer can be treated by a combination of  surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy as well as newer experimental methods. Identification is hard in early stages. If someone was able to find a way to identify lung cancer early on then, we would be fine for the most part.
  • HIV/AIDS-HIV viruses attack T-cells, since the body cannot completely destroy HIV, the T-cells become fewer and fewer. This damaged immune system leads to AIDS and the person can get infections and infection-like cancers. There is no known cure but, it can be controlled.
  • Diabetes- Diabetes is when there is too much blood sugar in the body. Type one is when the pancreas makes little or no insulin. Type 2 is when the body cannot process sugar properly. Gestational Diabetes is when someone has high blood sugar when pregnant. Exenatide injections and Exenatide extended release can help treat Type 2 diabetes.
  • Stroke- Stroke is when a part of the brain is not getting enough blood and the brain kind of begins to die. Brain damage can occur in only few minutes. An ischemic stroke occurs when a blood clot blocks a blood vessel in the brain. An hemorrhagic stroke occurs when an artery in the brain leaks or bursts.
  • Climate Change+Global warming: It is caused by increased levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. This is usually because of excess use of fossil fuels. Even one degree up in the average global temperature would be catastrophic.
  • Pollution- In many ecosystems, killing animals and making the world lose biodiversity. Humans can also be damaged by pollution. Long-term exposure to air pollution can cause chronic respiratory disease.
  • Alzheimer’s disease- The main effect of Alzheimer’s disease is loss of memory in the elderly. The cause of death with Alzheimer’s disease is an an intercurrent infection, mostly pneumonia.
  • Zika Virus- Zika Virus is carried by mosquitos and attacks pregnant women.Sometimes, though very rarely, a pregnant woman gets the disease their child is born with birth defects. Some more common symptoms are fever, rash, joint pain and red eyes. It is given to humans by an animal then survives through human to human transmission. Average fatality rate is 50% and spreads in outbreaks.
  • Clean energy- Right now energy is releasing carbon into the air. If there was a cleaner energy we could use more energy and climate change will slow. Note: Plants take out carbon dioxide, make energy and only release oxygen. If we can be like them than we will solve two problems, counteracting climate change and clean energy.
  • Waste Disposal- We need an energy efficient way to dispose of garbage. Otherwise garbage just sits in landfills never decomposing. There are many untested chemical ways of reducing waste but, we need a efficient way that doesn’t add to global warming.
  • Gun control- Right now there are many homeland terrorist attacks because of poor gun control. There are things that might help like longer prison terms or more guidance counseling. However, these are not certain to help.
  • Refugees-  Right now refugees from Syria are pouring out, trying to find a place to live. However many countries don’t want to help because it might hurt them. So where do these guys go? These refugees need affordable, secure, housing that does not have to be permanent.

  • Settling on Mars- It is very cold and the atmosphere cannot retain heat. However, there is a prospect of water, oxygen and building material on site. Other than NASA and other federal companies a couple of commercial companies also are planning to set up a base on Mars. One of them is dutch company called Mars One
  • AI- AI is a computer system that can perceive its environment, reason and then act on that reasoning. The main goal with AI is to produce intelligent machines. In order to make artificial intelligence we basically have to replicate natural intelligence.
  • Stem Cells- Stem cells are cells that can be pretty much any organ. They can save lives  by making a liver with enough stem cells. A few ways of getting stem cells is from the umbilical cord from a baby, the embryo inside a womb is also a good source of embryonic stem cells. Adult stem cells are less versatile and are found in every organ in an adult’s body
  • Ebola-. It is given to humans by an animal then survives through human to human transmission. Average fatality rate is 50% and spreads in outbreaks. No vaccines so far. Some symptoms are fever, fatigue, muscle pain, headache and sore throat. Then bad symptoms come like vomiting, diarrhea, rash, internal and external bleeding and impaired kidney and liver function.
  • Tuberculosis- This is a disease spread through the air and usually attacks the lungs. Some symptoms are sickness, weakness, fever, weight loss, night sweats, coughing, chest pains, and coughing up blood. When someone with TB coughs, sneezes or speaks the germs stay in the air, a prolonged exposure may cause someone else to be infected.
